Owl River

From the INTO THE ARCTIC Project

An endless carpet of tundra stretched before us as we ventured though breathtaking mountains. Driving each step deep into the soil, our burdensome packs slowed our pace to a mere one kilometre per hour.

Two days of toiling, complete with an icy river crossing and threatening skies, brought us to the shelter of a shallow gully. Exhausted, we pitched camp.

Morning brought blue skies and this stunning view of the Owl River. Excited, I reached for my pack and was rewarded with a sublime composition for my first canvas of the journey.
