11″ × 16″, oil on linen (2010) Auyuittuq National Park, Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada
From the INTO THE ARCTIC Project
An oasis in a land of rock and ice, this little pool of water was a pleasant find while exploring in Auyuittuq National Park. Rimmed with arctic cotton and moss-covered boulders, it made a gentle complement to the wall of granite in the distance. The three waterfalls cascading down from the Penny Ice Cap above flowed into the Weasel River beyond, adding an element of depth and wonder to the scene.
