7″ × 16″, oil on linen (2019) Devon Island, Northwest Passage, Nunavut, Canada
From the INTO THE ARCTIC Project
During a voyage through the Northwest Passage by ship, I witnessed a landscape that until then had only been on my wish list: the expansive Croker Glacier. Hours of awe-filled inspection from a Zodiac brought me face to face with the endless forms and colours of the deeply crevassed ice. Back on the anchored ship I watched the land transform as the sun set. The experience left a deep impression – and the inspiration needed to develop my graphite sketch into this painting.
