11″ × 16″, oil on linen (2016) Gibbs Fiord, Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada
From the INTO THE ARCTIC Project
Gibbs Fiord lies amongst the kilometre-high granite giants found on the north side of Baffin Island. Having just travelled down its length for three hours by ship, I was deep in awe by the time I landed with my painting gear. Before long, I was set up at this river’s edge, watching the afternoon light caress the vast mountains and illuminate the broken ice floating on the deep blue waters.
